Oh my god, it’s Wednesday! Set in Bloomingdale’s Forty Carrots Restaurant, this bubbly, pint-sized musical comedy follows four best friends from college — Theta sisters Bree, Devon, Holly and queen bee Gabrielle — on the eve of Gabrielle’s fairy-tale Hamptons wedding. It’s a millennial lunch date gone wrong, and a spoof of female foursome-led TV shows like Girls, Sex and the City and Desperate Housewives. Originally conceived in the BMI Workshop, Salad Days was the 2017 recipient of the Jean Banks Award, presented annually by the BMI Foundation to the best ten minute musical created in the workshop.

CAST RECORDING

Four best friends from college — sorority sisters Bree, Devon, Holly and queen bee Gabrielle — eagerly await their monthly Bloomingdale’s lunch date on the eve of Gabrielle’s wedding.

Seated in Bloomingdale’s Forty Carrots Restaurant, the women discuss Gabrielle’s use of belladonna eye drops as an aphrodisiac, as we meet Bartolomeo, a dashing Italian waiter.

When Gabrielle asks Bartolomeo for something else besides the sherry vinaigrette for their Red and Golden Beet Salads, he surprises the four women with personalized recommendations.

Gabrielle impulsively asks Bartolomeo to elope, whereupon Bartolomeo paints a bleak picture of married life together and Gabrielle’s friends convince her to poison herself with the belladonna eye drops.

With Gabrielle dead at the table, Bree, Devon and Holly ponder their monthly lunches without her, but are thrilled to try the buffet at Saks Fifth Avenue next month.
